BATTERY INNOVATION WORKSHOP, Espoo, Finland, 09-10.11.2022
The workshop was hosted by VTT, one of the Top Innovators identified by the FIT-4-NMP. The FIT-4-NMP Innovation Workshops aim to gather the NMP Top Innovators and talented newcomers to identify and discuss possible synergies in preparing joint Horizon Europe project proposals in Cluster 4 and Cluster 5 of the programme.
This particular Battery Innovation Workshop was focused on the following topics of interest for VTT from the upcoming Cluster 5 round of calls:

HORIZON-CL5-2023-D2-01-02: New processes for upcoming recycling feeds (Batt4EU Partnership)

HORIZON-CL5-2023-D2-02-03: Creating a digital passport to track battery materials, optimize battery performance and life, validate recycling, and promote a new business model based on data sharing (Batt4EU Partnership)
From the FIT-4-NMP side, the workshop concept was delivered by Technology Partners Foundation in close collaboration with Łukasiewicz-Orgmasz CFI team. This included participants' presentations and brainstorming teamwork using the foresight-driven consortium co-creation technique, which resulted in project proposal ideas discussion.
In addition, the VTT EU Programmes Manager Julia Nevmerzhitskaya made a comprehensive presentation of Horizon Europe's structure, opportunities, and important peculiarities and challenges of 2023 calls, which was extremely helpful training for the newcomers.
On the 9th of November, the VTT organized tours to the Battery assembly lab, Battery lab, and Circular Raw Materials Hub, to get the participants acquainted with their relevant capacities and innovative research in the field of batteries.
The workshop gathered 25 experts from Finland, Poland, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, and Portugal, including 10 talented newcomers (1 of them joined online). 9 VTT and 1 INESC-ID representative joined the event to facilitate the discussions from the top innovator’s perspective.
